Known as The Skin Care Makeup, the Jane Iredale line is so safe and beneficial to use that it is recommended by Plastic Surgeons and Dermatologists throughout the world.
Jane's line is a highly-sophisticated blend of minerals and pigments. The staying power of the minerals is so great that they rarely need a touch-up during the day. And because these silky-feeling powders are water resistant, they won't crease or smear even during the most strenuous exercise.
The most beautiful cosmetic you can wear is a healthy skin. That's why everything we develop is a true extension of skin care. Our makeup is not just a refinement of conventional makeup; it's a new technology. It's so effective it is recommended by plastic surgeons, dermatologists and skin care professionals.
Press Reviews
Is the makeup safe for all skin types?
We have eliminated the known sensitizers from our makeup. Fragrance, FD&C dyes, synthetic preservatives are the top three sensitizers. Individuals with extreme chemical sensitivities wear our makeup successfully.
Is it all right to use it on acne-prone skin?
Yes. It is completely non-comedogenic and allows the skin to breathe and function normally. It also easily covers the redness common with eruptions. We have had many clients report to us that they have seen an improvement in their skin since they have been using Iredale.
Is it necessary to wear additional sunscreens when using the minerals?
No. You may if you wish. We always believe that you can’t wear too much protection in the sun. However, be careful of comedogenic or sensitivity reactions to some chemical sunscreens. Because our minerals provide a physical sunscreen, there is no need to wait for protection to begin.
How soon can the makeup be applied after laser, microdermabrasion or peels?
The minerals can be applied immediately after a microdermabrasion or a light peel. They will not only cover the redness but the titanium dioxide and zinc oxide are known anti-inflammatories, that will help to calm the erythema. It is important to replace the stratum corneum that has been lost after these kinds of procedures. The stratum corneum is the body’s first defense against the sun.
Application after laser resurfacing must depend on the aesthetician’s permission, which can be from 5-12 days depending on the laser used and how deeply it was used. It is essential for healing skin to be protected by the sun. Minerals provide this as well as coverage and soothing properties.
Is the loose or pressed powder better for post-laser?
Either will cover the erythema and give the necessary sun protection. You might want to bear in mind, however, that the new skin after laser is extremely sensitive and the fewer ingredients you have to worry about, the better. The loose powders contain less than the pressed. Our advice on lasered skin is to keep it as simple as possible.
What does a water- and perspiration-proof rating mean?
If you are perspiring heavily or swimming or you’ve been caught in the rain, don’t wipe your face with the towel -just pat it. You may remove a small amount of the makeup, but the majority will stay on the skin. If you are exercising in the sun, it would be wise to brush on another layer of minerals after you’ve dried you face.
Does jane iredale work on older or aging skin?
Yes. Because this is a light-reflective cosmetic, it obscures fine lines and wrinkles and gives a healthy glow to the skin, making it look younger. Matte makeup absorbs light and allows the eye to see “into” the skin. On a very lined skin, after applying the minerals, it is helpful to spritz with our D2O or Balance Hydration Sprays. This sets the makeup, softens lines and gives a dewy look. The technique of spritzing the sponge first and applying the minerals as a wash also helps to minimize fine lines, wrinkles and large pores.
Are the powders drying?
No, quite the reverse. Our minerals actually trap moisture between the skin and the crystal layer. The conception that powders are drying comes from the high use of talc in most formulas - up to 90%!
What moisturizer is best used with the powders?
Your favorite. Just wait for it to be absorbed so that you have a smooth canvas on which to work. If you don’t, the powders will grab unevenly.
Is the makeup easy to apply?
Yes! The problem that first-time wearers commonly encounter is that they apply too much. Because they are used to using makeup that has large amounts of filler and not a lot of “pay-off,” they use the same techniques when applying jane iredale. With minerals, less is more. Please visit out test counter and have a chat with our makeup artist to find out how best to use mineral makeup to achieve your preferred look.
FOUR IN ONE
Our micronized mineral bases are concentrated pigment. This means that we use no fillers such as talc to stretch pigment or dyes.
SPF (Sun Protection Factor) and the FDA
SPF 20 Pressed Bases & SPF 20 Loose Bases - Formulated with titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, the minerals give instant, broad-spectrum, chemical-free sun protection. They also have a Very Water Resistant rating.
FAST, WEIGHTLESS COVERAGE
Apply with a brush or a sponge for coverage that it would normally take three products to achieve. The result should look sheer and luminescent and feel weightless.
NON-COMEDOGENIC AND OIL-FREE
The minerals are non-comedogenic. We have many accounts from acne patients testifying to improvement in their skins since using our mineral makeup. The only oils we use in our formulas are in products where we want to help condition the skin - such as in our under-eye concealer and lip products.
MINIMUM ALLERGY RISK
Substances that most commonly cause these sensitivities are chemical preservatives, chemical dyes (usually labeled as FD&C), perfume and alcohol. Our makeup contains none of these sensitizers. In fact, zinc oxide and titanium dioxide are anti-inflammatories and help calm the skin.
CONCENTRATED PIGMENT (COVERAGE)
Our pigments are made from micronized mineral elements only.
The reason our powders work so well as a natural-looking beauty makeup and/or a camouflage is because the concentrated pigment masks color but also reflects and refracts light (matte finishes absorb light). An amazingly small amount of the minerals will cover most types of redness including acne, rosacea and erythema (redness).
ADHERE
Because of the micronization process our mineral particles undergo, they bind together on application. When applied to a clean, moisturized skin the surface tension this creates overcomes gravity and holds the minerals tightly to the skin. The result is that they resist running, creasing and smearing and will only come off with a cleanser. No special cleanser is required.
ANTI-INFLAMMATORY
Titanium dioxide and zinc oxide have anti-inflammatory properties and will help to calm erythema. Zinc oxide is also anti-microbial.

The best cover-up for dark circles!
I love my Jane Iredale Circle/Delete Concealer! This is the best product I have ever used for covering up dark circles under the eyes. The product is silky and therefore goes on smoothly and evenly. It also comes as a two color set so depending on the coverage you need (which can vary) it is just perfect at all times.

The perfect way to set your makeup for the day!
The Jane Iredale D20 Hydration Spritz is the perfect finish to applying mineral makeup. It acts as a "set", so your makeup goes nowhere and stays on your face until you actually remove it. It also is great as the day wears on, if you want to refresh your face-just spritz it on and you are good for the rest of the day and the evening, without having to redo your makeup. There really isn't anything that I didn't like about it.
5 out of 5 Great foundation
I really like this makeup. It feels light on my skin and doesn't feel greasy or dry at the end of the day. It makes your skin look very natural but it covers well. I have also noticed it doesn't rub off on your clothing, phone, etc, like some foundations do. It did take some time to get used to the makeups texture. It blends best if you apply it right after your mositurizer blending one area at a time.
5 out of 5 Excellent for Rosacea
I have rosacea and this product actually makes the itching and burning sensation go away. I cannot use any other foundation (because most actually cause a rosacea flare for me), and I absolutely LOVE this product. It covers up all my rosacea redness, when it's humid here, even if I feel like I'm "glowing" my face doesn't show it. This foundation never looks caked up or gloppy when it's humid.
